Children's Book Recommendations!

Spent yesterday afternoon at the main library on Calhoun. We LOVE our libraries! Seriously. We hop from one to the other, frequenting James Island (within walking distance), West Ashley, and Main. We go to the Wee Reads program, I used to do the Two's program with Ms. Susan and now we do Babygarten classes with Louis, my one yr old.
We go there just to play too - they have blocks and puppets and James Island has a lil amphitheater area where Betty likes to do "shows."
Soon I will be creating a calendar and I will post all the events and programs.
Right now you can find out more by visiting here.

Returning our books and saying THANK YOU! for letting us borrow them :)
Library books teach us alot about taking care of our things and when Betty was little and we were experimenting with borrowing books with paper pages vs board books, we had a couple of torn pages happen. We've definitely bought at least two books from the library.

Cousins

I don't know about y'all but I have no clue how to pick out books for my children at the library. My current strategy: peek at the books they have displayed on top of the shelves and check to see how many words it has. Not too many? We're taking it home!
That definitely means I have brought home some DUDS. Also brought home some inappropriate ones (Sam's New Best Friend is really about divorce sooo.....)
So I hope this helps you: here are some we recommend.
I will do posts with new recommendations on a regular basis and I hope that y'all can comment with any suggestions you may have as well!

Our new favorite author is Amy Rosenthal! Betty (3.5yrs old) loves these books and they have some funny quirky adult humor in there too.

(Little Pea is a happy pea until suppertime comes around and his parents say he has to eat his CANDY if he wants to grow big and strong and get SPINACH for dessert!)

Big fans of Chopsticks and coincided with Betty getting to use them for the 1st time too.

These are our 3 new Rosenthal books we got yesterday.

We also adore Pete the Cat, of course. (STILL)

We like most Eric Carle books. Some are a bit whacky.
But Brown Bear is sing-songy so its perfect for itty bittys

LOVE Sandra Boynton board books for little ones too. We own these 4 below and the bindings are coming apart from reading them over and over (annoying for us but soooo good for babies!)
We just borrowed another one of her's, the Belly Button Book, from the library too.

Happy Reading!
Leave comments with any recommendations you have please.
(that aren't too long...lol)
